It seems to me that only after the results of the last POTUS election that some want to shine a light on him as being the ultimate ‘moderate’ or ‘centrist’ candidate EVAR! And they do so as a point of derision, as if to say “Here before you is your Messiah of Moderation, look upon his EPIC FAIL. Do you see now, the folly of tempering your political desires with reason”.

McCain may be a lot of things, but this “McCain was the ultimate moderate who lost, and look where that got us” meme is tiresome.

And it’s worth noting that that McCain of 2008 was a LOT less centrist or moderate than the McCain of 2000.
