I’d make that deal, but Alaska would want “a player to be named later” and we don’t have anybody. Can’t add cash to sweeten the deal because we’re low on funds.

Mark Sanford was a John McCain backer going back to 1999’s presidential primary announcement tours.

McCain counted on Sanford’s help to win the 2000 South Carolina primary that ended up being George W. Bush’s come-back after Bush lost New Hampshire in a landslide to McCain.

McCain & Sanford were similar. McCain left his first wife & children, and lived to marry a new “soulmate” Cindy, and run for president.

Perhaps Sanford thought he could pull a McCain, have his cake & eat it too.
