Unfortunately, in the process, I suspect that the American people will end up being victims of a bit of that blood-letting. Boehner announcing that he’s bowing out likely means an even greater push by GOP wingnuts for a shutdown. After all, what’s he going to do to stop them?

The other side to this is, Boehner can negotiate a budget resolution with whoever and not give a sh$t about what the base says. Not saying there won’t still be a shutdown. But his announcement means that for the next month his opponents don’t have much leverage over him.
