Or, conversely, we refer to them by name - The Golden State Freeway, The Pasadena Freeway, The Harbor Freeway, the Long Beach Freeway….etc. REALLY messes with the tourists!

Well, in Mass, we refer to the inner ring road around Boston as Rt. 128, but all the road signs say US Rt. 95.
Thereby confusing anyone we give directions to.
