You know, maybe it says a lot about me and where I’ve come over the past ten years in both maturity and politics or that his side has gone completely ape shit but President Bush comes across as a decent guy to me now. I mean I have no regrets at all about supporting Gore and Kerry over him but I no longer hate the man and I think he’s a voice of reason in his party now.

I was never one to hate him. He always seemed to me to be just another typical con politician — appeals to the uncurious, overprivileged, overfed, killing-obsessed crowd, which he did quite well. So -he’s always seemed rather unexceptional to me.

I also find it interesting that it’s his loyalists, Kathleen Parker/David Frum etc who are coming across as halfway normal people, the only ones with enough spine and sense of self to speak up about the tea party. Interesting.
