Hardly. As Limbaugh noted, he’s trying to co-opt the right-wing pundits inside the beltway, and also identify them as the “legitimate” spokesmen for the right, as opposed to Limbaugh and Coulter. On the side, he’s promised them access to his administration and probably invitations to the White House and the DC social scene.

In short, he’s trying to charm them and buy them off. We’ll see if it works.

Not going to disagree with any of that. I’m sure it was a political calculation to isolate Limbaugh and Coulter. Even Karl Rove would be impressed. Obama knows the likes of Kristal and O’reily will never agree with his politics, but they might like him personally and he’s tossing them a bone by giving them a seat at the table. By so doing, he may hope they’ll play nice to keep the seat.
