We should probably be happy that Trump didn’t pick General Flynn. That could’ve been a genuine threat, a nominal Democrat crossover with legit military / security credentials, but the dude’s pro-choice stance killed any chance he had. Pence is probably the next best choice remaining from a strategic standpoint, just in that he doesn’t have the enormous negatives that would accompany Christie or Gingrich.

It’s difficult to predict what will help or hinder Trump. Normal political calculations are irrelevant. The only thing that matters is how many self-deluded fools decide they want to believe in Trump’s lies.
