“If you burn the fuel”? There is no question but that we are going to burn the fuel. The only way we will stop burning petroleum is when we actually run out of it.

The idea that we will stop using it out of altruism and concern for the future is a fantasy.

Altruism - how about survival. There is such a thing as enlightened self interest. If you are correct, and I fear you may be, then all you are saying is that we are screwed as a civilization. I personally think we should try to keep it.
