Um, what? What do you mean “remap a physical keyboard”?

Well, I have my Windows XP preferences set up so that by hitting ALT and SHIFT at the same time, I can “remap” the physical keyboard for inputting Cyrillic letters instead of Latin ones. Thus, when I hit the physical keys r k f d b f n e h f, what appears onscreen are the Cyrillic letters к л а в и а т у р а (klaviatura, the Russian word for “keyboard,” whether of a piano, typewriter, or computer).
