The staus quo is inadequate, to say the least. That’s where I think you have got it wrong. The cartels objective is to get their drugs here. Then get their money out of here. The lengths they go to for those two things make deadly headlines. The carnage on their side of the border would be dramatically reduced by a real effective barrier here on this side.

Given the existing situation, with current efforts “already there”… If I lived on the border I would organize with my neighbors as best as possible. I would want my land to be land the bad guys avoid rather than transit. Kinda sucks when 9-11 takes a minute too long to have a cop show up.
