I don’t know what designates being “flagged”. Hengineer works on one, he could better answer your question. They are owned and operated by the US, and fly our flag. They have a mostly civilian crew, and Ships’ Master, with a small military contingent onboard.

The Maersk line is privately owned I would guess, so I think that’s apples and oranges.
