re: #394 kirkspencer

I had a similar experience with Wells Fargo when they bought our mortgage (or however they get them). They changed my last name to my husband’s last name. I guess they couldn’t get past a married woman who didn’t take her husband’s name. I tried in vain to get them to change it to my legal name but finally gave up. It was the name on deed that counted.

So a couple of years after I sold the house, I opened an account at a local Wells Fargo bank. They saw in their records someone with the same SS# and different last name. I told them what happened and that it was THEIR error. They insisted that I prove to them that I hadn’t changed my name when I got married. How the hell do I prove a negative? They wanted my birth certificate - proves nothing of course except that my name is my name. I told them to go blow and moved my account to a great local bank.
