I think I was 9. Thinking back, it seems like I was younger, but I guess not. My mom said she saw, in her mind’s eye, a ring of 40-foot tall angels standing around the house, protecting it. I remember our biggest scare, the lady across the street, who was alone, came (during the thing!) knocking on our back door, loudly. All four of us nearly crapped ourselves. Really tiny house, and I do mean tiny. Maybe the sq. footage of a big RV/Travel trailer. She lived on the lake-side (Paw Paw) of the road, in a big sturdy house, and somehow (she knew we were Christians) thought that it would be safer with us. Crazy morning.

I had no idea Watervliet was hit…a little village like that could easily vanish altogether…you and your neighbors are very fortunate…I only saw the damage in Kzoo and it was quite alrming
