He’s got a couple of decent films. Dancer in the Dark (starring Bjork) is actually a very beautiful, if tragic, film. It fell flat with American audiences…we like our happy endings too much. But I recommend seeing it on Netflix if you haven’t seen it yet. Bjork is disturbingly captivating in this role.

I save all my devastating endings for the Israeli movies I watch to try to improve my Hebrew. Middle Easterners are as bad as Europeans for that crap. Are English speakers alone in liking happy endings?

(“The Bubble” damn near killed me. Along with the two protagonists.)
