re: #401 BigPapa
If it wasn’t for people like them, my town (South Haven) would be a ghost town. As would a few thousand other Outside-The-City getaway towns, around every major city. Ski resorts. Vegas. All that. Our town triples in population in the summer. More boats than cars in the summer. Boaters aren’t what one would call the poorfolk. When (usually young) people complain about all the tourists and Chicagoans (God bless ‘em!) I say, “You better be thankful, and treat ‘em like the Islanders in the Caribbean treat the tourists, with deference and nice and how can I help you! because they’re our lifeblood.”
