There’s plenty; I used to hang out on a Rabbit forum. This one was a Minnesota car with at least 140,000 miles (it was a diesel) and it was the frame that gave out. The guys down south trick theirs out with turbos and tweaked fuel systems and go race Mini Coopers.

I’m a certified VW nut. I’d love to have a new GTi…or even another new Golf. But my current Rabbit is quite fun and does all I need for now. I understand the 2.5 liter 5-cylinder Rabbit engines, like I have now, have been bullet proof. I only have 74,000 on my ‘08 and it looks showroom new. Clean inside too. So, maybe in a couple I’ll pick up a used GTi and play with both of them.

Heck, one reason I bought the Rabbit, is in its simple appointments, no leather, no sunroof it weighs less than a GTi and with the 170 HP engine is only a few tenths off a GTi. I don’t drive that fast anyway (on the straights), but I can pass with ease.
