How could it be enforced in any way that would be tolerable to the people who vote? Only one of my guns has not long ago lost its manufacturer’s pedigree. That’s probably true of many or most of the 250 million guns that are over a few years old. Long guns are hardly even tracked.

i think this is what usually happens
we end up lost in the weeds with “how” and “that’ll never work because” rather than starting with the basic premises

- some people can be and are legally barred from possessing guns
- while the rest of us have a right to own/possess, no one has an obligation to sell to you
- sellers/transferers could and should be held criminally and civilly liable if they do not take reasonable (or even any) steps to confirm they are not selling to someone they shouldnt

(yes, i think sellers have some obligation to the rest of us - selling is an option and should not be done recklessly or carelessly)
