That is. Empty shoebox versus feces exhibition. They’re both what could be colloquially termed as “crap.” It reminds me of the color panels from the 1980s. Typically it was walking into a museum and seeing a canvas of nothing but magenta paint (a color that was a fad of the time). In a way Serrano’s feces is almost an ironic reflection of much of the modernist poser art movement.

Still, it is his determination to violate normal standards and gross people out that leads me to think of him as an immature ass.
