We have to decide if want Jail to be punishment, protection for the rest of society or Rehab.

Honestly, I feel for a lot of criminals. Not for the time or the punishment for their actual crimes, but because so many good kids become part of the “system” and it is sooo hard to get out of it without money and parents who are willing to work hard for you.

One thing leads to another and a career criminal is made. I think very few are actually “born”.

Just one of the many, many issues we face when trying to live in a just society.

This guy killed some folks in a bank robbery; sentenced to death, the sentence commuted to life, then several re-trials, with the last one finally ending in him getting his freedom.

Turned his life around in prison; edited the prison magazine and became an author.

But it took wayyyyy too long, IMO, for him to be released.
