We have an ability of participation that we can either laugh off as fruitless, or exercise to it’s fullest potential.

I understand why many would be cynical. I am cynical. But we have something here that many other nations do not.

Consider the last time an Iranian citizen was able to openly mock Ahmadinejad the way we openly mock Bachmann, or the way our press can openly mock and criticize our POTUS.

For whatever faults and failings we may have as a nation, we are today able to begin from a much more stable foundation of freedom than many other nations in the world.

No, we do not hang homosexuals in the public square. No, we do not stone women for the offense driving a car. But this Boogey Man of such comparisons is not enough. We still have much work to do here.
