If someone is willing to fight and die for his, her ( or its…heh bad…) country, who has the right to stop them based on their sexual orientation? More power to them. A gay man in the military is a better man than I’ll ever be.

It’s time we hired (or retained) people based on their qualifications for the job, rather than their race, gender, or sexual orientation. (Isn’t that what conservative opposition to affirmative action is all about?) We have lost qualified personnel at a time when we sorely needed them. Other armed forces have not been hindered or rendered any less effective by equality in this area.
