I used to hear that all the time in Vegas (that and people bitchin’ that it was “muggy” when the humidity hit 12%)
But anything past 100 is just too damn hot, wet or dry = )

The heat in Las Vegas or Phoenix or Palm Springs is different than the humid stuff some of you get in the midwest, south and east. It is a dry heat so the heat index is lower. 110 with 5% humidity is different than 95 with 80% humidity. The stickiness is pretty nasty and uncomfortable.

The thing about the desert heat is the “oven” feeling you get. It was 115 here today. I work outside a lot and in the back of a truck many times. Add 25-30 degrees to the 115 and you get the temp in the back of the truck. And, if you do not hydrate yourself properly, you can easily get heat stroke. It comes on fast and can really mess you up. So, I drink lots of water before during and after any kind of outdoors activities. I have my guys take gallons of water with them.

That is the biggest difference with the dry heat. It will kill you if you do not drink enough water. 200-400 people a year die in the deserts south of here trying to make it across the border from Mexico. It is a nasty way to do too…..
