There is a fanedit of Lynch’s film called Dune: Alternative Edit Redux that’s actually quite good, and adheres a bit more to the original novel, especially the ending. It’s floating around there in the intertubes.

Nothing will redeem casting Kyle Maclachlan in that part—or any part, really.
