The GOP base seem like they want, most of all, revenge on Obama, and Newt is sort of the guy that would be that revenge. Mitt Romney looks, in comparison, dangerously reasonable and not at all the sort of satisfying victory that they’re looking for. They desire satisfaction, not a reasonable candidate :D

Exactly, even if it means losing the White House, so long as they get the House and Senate so they can keep Obama from doing anything.
