This guy killed some folks in a bank robbery; sentenced to death, the sentence commuted to life, then several re-trials, with the last one finally ending in him getting his freedom.

Turned his life around in prison; edited the prison magazine and became an author.

But it took wayyy too long, IMO, for him to be released.

I hear you, but I will note that by today’s laws he’d have been guilty of Felony Murder anyways and likely sentenced to death.
