What ever became of that? I was looking through Google Streets and most of the Mission hasn’t changed. I know around Candlestick Park that wasn’t the case and now it’s another boring collection of crappy post modern architecture and young white posers.

At the height of the dot-com boom, a lot of semi-affluent white couples were moving into the Mission. Conflict sparked, not so much between the indigenous Latino blue-collar community of the area and the yuppies, but between the yuppies and their hipster cousins who had been using the area for dirt-cheap studio space. There was a lot of yelling and overwrought political nonsense for a couple of years.

Then the dot-com boom ended, and no one could afford to live in San Francisco again. La Mision is still La Mision. The burritos are still good, and the hookers still line Capp Street.
