I have, tucked in a couple of out-of-sight locations, some pemmican. Made right it’s got ‘shelf life’ of years. (completely dry the meat. tallow, not suet. If using dried fruit, chop fine. Pack so critters can’t get it.) It isn’t tasty. Not bad, but not something I want to snack upon. Still better than most MREs I’ve had.

Food is food. Want to know what is bad. A 16 lb bag of dry cat food and a 32 can box of wet will feed the cats longer than what we keep on hand. But if need be, will also feed us in an emergency (after we eat the cats).
