It’s hard to play this “bipartisan politician” act twice when you’ve got Democrats putting your inner circle away for fucking with a major transit hub because the mayor wouldn’t support your reelection bid.

That could prove accurate as well. I guess it also depends on who the NJ GOP has waiting in the wings to head center stage for the state and potentially national level. If no one is on the horizon it’s easier to see an attempted rehabilitation of Christie as a candidate. Plus the consideration of what his ego demands.
