It is. This is the nightmare scenario predicted by many when Reagan welcomed the more extreme elements of the religious right with open arms. Just a bit of a tricky problem now, especially when the conventional wisdom says that the Republicans cannot win without the support of the religious right.

Using LGF as an example, take a look at how many lizards have called Charles attention to the ID issue a crusade against all religious lizards when it is nothing of the sort. Attempts by the GOP to pull back from the issues that are dear to the more extreme elements of the religious right are going to cause this on a grand scale. With a media that is hostile to all things GOP, and willing to amplify those well exaggerated claims, it’s going to be a bloody mess whenever the GOP leadership finally decides that it has to be done and actually does it.

But it has to be done. This isn’t about one’s personal/private faith now. It’s about folks using religion (on both sides) for political gain - one side to criticize/fear monger and the other to fan the flames. The problem is that it’s certain death for the Reps to keep pushing faith into political agendas like this. I really hate G-D being used politically.
