We Got Mail!

Moonbats • Views: 2,046

Instead of posting any of the dozens of hate mails I’ve received in the past three days, here’s a look at the calm, reasoned discourse in which my critics engage; these quotes come from emails regarding my posts about creationism, Glenn Beck, and G. W. Bush bowing to accept a medal from Saudi King Abdullah:

“Moron.”
“Christian-hater.”
“Sad little man.”
“Fool.”
“Are you OK?”
“Horribly dishonest.”
“Underhanded.”
“Sheeple.”
“Obama lover.”
“The snake pit of your dedicated disciples.”
“Juvenile and dumb.”
“Your lemming minions.”
“A small, spoiled child.”
“Little totalitarian wannabe dictators like yourself.”
“Retarded.”
“Horseshit.”
“You run your site like Kim Jong Il.”

My personal favorite:

“Evolution? Lies! Lies! Is that what you support?”

About half of these admirers address me as “Chuck,” or “Chuckie,” which I’m apparently supposed to take as a horrendous insult for some reason. I gotta admit, it makes me laugh when I get a hate mail addressed to “Chuckie.” Don’t ever change, haters!

I think they're trying to relate you to "Chuckie" from the Child's Play movies when they do that.

What about Chucky Atkins, Brown and Mullin? Or chess grandmaster Vassily Ivanchuk, known as "Big Chucky"?

/OK, the Chuck E. Cheese thing isn't that great a connection, but still, the chain does well

Right now the Republican party should be cleaning up as people flock to register for the party.

It isn't.

Republicans used to have a message of "Less Government, More Freedom", robust defense and of free enterprise delivering prosperity to everyone.

Instead, we have a message of ranting conspiracy theorists predicting a civil/war apocalypse as others think we should "double down" on creationism so as to really inspire the "grass roots."

Sad that Bill Clinton can figure out something that escapes so many in the ranks - It's the economy, stupid.

90 DistantThunder  Thu, Apr 9, 2009 2:30:02pm

Speaking of countering hate speech, here is the letter I sent to my daughter's principal this afternoon. Today starts Spring break so he'll have at least 10 days to sweat over this:

Dear Mr. S______,

We were shocked to learn of a recent presentation at S-----, which our daughter, M____, was required to attend for author,--- presentation of her book, B-------. In this presentation, our LDS faith was seriously maligned and misrepresented. Our daughter, as one of only 3 LDS students in the school, was shocked, dismayed and embarrassed by the bigotry and completely false characterizations of our LDS faith. (1100 students attended this event.)

Even worse, the main character, who shares many demographic characteristics with our daughter, becomes a Columbine-style school bomber - suburban LDS teenage girl as terrorist. People began saying to our daughter: "ooh...should we be afraid of you now?" and other derogatory comments incited by the malicious material in the presentation. She felt compelled to defend herself and felt put on the spot to explain that our faith was just the opposite of what the author had represented.

We wondered if S----- High School would have invited an author who had written a book where the main characters were Muslims, with an abusive father, a submissive mother, and a frustrated teen that becomes a bomber? Most schools would not make this obviously incendiary error. There are so many positive examples of LDS writers such as Stephanie Meyer, New York Times best selling author of the popular Twilight series; and Orson Scott Card award-winning author of more than 50 science fiction novels, that have enormous appeal. Why invite an author that bashes a minority religion?

Why were the sensibilities, and personal safety concerns of the LDS students not taken into consideration prior to the event? Why was it not considered that LDS students might become targets of harassment? Why was it not considered that the LDS students would find the presentation offensive and degrading?

Jewish author, Jeff Gottesfeld wrote a review of the book, and says it is "literary group character assassination." This is from his review:

"In "Burned," though, the reader finds the church unrelentingly bashed. At the family level, the bashing occurs in the persona of heroine Pattyn's devout Mormon father, who acts criminally toward his own family in supposed accordance with church doctrine. At the local level, it's the portrayal of uniformly hurtful bishops and congregation members who look away from child and wife abuse. At the macro, there is the clear implication that higher-ups must be complicit and that the faith is at the root of all this evil.

"This is literary group character assassination. ....

"More importantly, when writing for teens and kids, it is incumbent upon authors to understand that our young audience often lacks the background to evaluate and contextualize what they're reading, especially in books about race, religion and ethnicity."

We know Jewish people who are particularly sensitive to this type of religious stereotyping and harassment, because it happened to their faith as well. We just didn't think that this would happen to our daughter in New Jersey in 2009.

We would like to make an appointment to speak with you further about this incident.

Sincerely,

99 Egregious Philbin  Thu, Apr 9, 2009 2:31:20pm

Its funny, I've been in an ongoing argument with a friend via facebook, he started by admonishing Obama for not attending church, so I countered "like Reagan", that got him mad, so he said "but Obama bows to the Saudi king", followed by "like Bush did" and steered him here. Then he starts to quote Savage, to which I ask him who thinks for him. He comes back that he doesn't follow entertainers like the left. I ask him if Hannity, Savage, Limbaugh et al are entertainers as well?

Now he is pissed, because I am countering his Obama Derangement Syndrome with the equally stupid Bush Derangement Syndrome.

It's stunning and frightening that a group of adults could sit around, and after discussion approve of this presentation. The author told the group that her first book was based on her daughter who was addicted to meth, in and out of rehab multiple time and had 5 children out of wedlock. She felt compelled to share that her son was gay - i think that's where the anti-lds obsession come in. I wish she knew what it was like to raise several wonderful, creative LDS daughters like we have - no drugs, no booze, good grades. I feel sad for her.

OT: Ten principles for a Black Swan-proof world
By Nassim Nicholas Taleb

[Link: www.ft.com...]

1. What is fragile should break early while it is still small. Nothing should ever become too big to fail. Evolution in economic life helps those with the maximum amount of hidden risks – and hence the most fragile – become the biggest.

2. No socialisation of losses and privatisation of gains. Whatever may need to be bailed out should be nationalised; whatever does not need a bail-out should be free, small and risk-bearing. We have managed to combine the worst of capitalism and socialism. In France in the 1980s, the socialists took over the banks. In the US in the 2000s, the banks took over the government. This is surreal.

3. People who were driving a school bus blindfolded (and crashed it) should never be given a new bus. The economics establishment (universities, regulators, central bankers, government officials, various organisations staffed with economists) lost its legitimacy with the failure of the system. It is irresponsible and foolish to put our trust in the ability of such experts to get us out of this mess. Instead, find the smart people whose hands are clean.

4. Do not let someone making an “incentive” bonus manage a nuclear plant – or your financial risks. Odds are he would cut every corner on safety to show “profits” while claiming to be “conservative”. Bonuses do not accommodate the hidden risks of blow-ups. It is the asymmetry of the bonus system that got us here. No incentives without disincentives: capitalism is about rewards and punishments, not just rewards.

5. Counter-balance complexity with simplicity. Complexity from globalisation and highly networked economic life needs to be countered by simplicity in financial products. The complex economy is already a form of leverage: the leverage of efficiency. Such systems survive thanks to slack and redundancy; adding debt produces wild and dangerous gyrations and leaves no room for error. Capitalism cannot avoid fads and bubbles: equity bubbles (as in 2000) have proved to be mild; debt bubbles are vicious.

6. Do not give children sticks of dynamite, even if they come with a warning . Complex derivatives need to be banned because nobody understands them and few are rational enough to know it. Citizens must be protected from themselves, from bankers selling them “hedging” products, and from gullible regulators who listen to economic theorists.

7. Only Ponzi schemes should depend on confidence. Governments should never need to “restore confidence”. Cascading rumours are a product of complex systems. Governments cannot stop the rumours. Simply, we need to be in a position to shrug off rumours, be robust in the face of them.

8. Do not give an addict more drugs if he has withdrawal pains. Using leverage to cure the problems of too much leverage is not homeopathy, it is denial. The debt crisis is not a temporary problem, it is a structural one. We need rehab.

9. Citizens should not depend on financial assets or fallible “expert” advice for their retirement. Economic life should be definancialised. We should learn not to use markets as storehouses of value: they do not harbour the certainties that normal citizens require. Citizens should experience anxiety about their own businesses (which they control), not their investments (which they do not control).

to be continued...

re: #227 Salamantis

continued...

10. Make an omelette with the broken eggs. Finally, this crisis cannot be fixed with makeshift repairs, no more than a boat with a rotten hull can be fixed with ad-hoc patches. We need to rebuild the hull with new (stronger) materials; we will have to remake the system before it does so itself. Let us move voluntarily into Capitalism 2.0 by helping what needs to be broken break on its own, converting debt into equity, marginalising the economics and business school establishments, shutting down the “Nobel” in economics, banning leveraged buyouts, putting bankers where they belong, clawing back the bonuses of those who got us here, and teaching people to navigate a world with fewer certainties.

Then we will see an economic life closer to our biological environment: smaller companies, richer ecology, no leverage. A world in which entrepreneurs, not bankers, take the risks and companies are born and die every day without making the news.

In other words, a place more resistant to black swans.

They seem to be under the illusion that LGF is a public institution that has been charged with the duty of giving their every last idiotic thought and genocidal wish a platform. They will never be able to grasp that this is just a private blog whose owner- as is his right - enforces minimum standards - standards they abjectly fail to meet. They are probably the stupidest collection of people I've ever seen on the web.

Worried that their son was too optimistic, the parents of a little boy took him to a psychiatrist. Trying to dampen the boy’s spirits, the psychiatrist showed him into a room piled high with nothing but horse manure. Yet instead of displaying distaste, the little boy clambered to the top of the pile, dropped to all fours, and began digging.

“What do you think you’re doing?” the psychiatrist asked.

“With all this manure,” the little boy replied, beaming, “there must be a pony in here somewhere.”

Just 53 Percent Say Capitalism Is Preferable To Socialism

Instapundit's entry on this story:

RASMUSSEN: Just 53% say capitalism is better than socialism. Hey, that’s a bigger percentage than Barack Obama got in November, and that was supposed to be a landslide! And capitalism doesn’t get the friendly press that Obama enjoyed . . . .

And note this proviso:

It is interesting to compare the new results to an earlier survey in which 70% of Americans prefer a free-market economy. The fact that a “free-market economy” attracts substantially more support than “capitalism” may suggest some skepticism about whether capitalism in the United States today relies on free markets.

Yeah, at least in the financial and automotive industries it’s more a kind of state capitalism. And, in fact, “Just 14% believe the federal government would do a better job running auto companies, and even fewer believe government would do a better job running financial firms.”

The fact that a “free-market economy” attracts substantially more support than “capitalism” may suggest some skepticism about whether capitalism in the United States today relies on free markets.

Or, it may just reflect that "capitalism" is routinely flung around as a pejorative term on colleges campuses and the like, much more so than is "free market".

You're getting company in 30 minutes. Your house is a mess.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?

SECRET TIP 1: DOOR LOCKS
If a room clearly can't be whipped into shape in 30 days - much less 30 minutes - employ the Locked Door Method of cleaning.Tell anyone who tries to go in the room that the door is intentionally locked. CAUTION: It is not advisable to use this tip for the bathroom.
Time: 2 seconds

SECRET TIP 2: DUCT TAPE
No home should be without an ample supply. Not only is it handy for plumbing repairs, but it's a great way to hem drapes, tablecloths, clothes, just about anything. No mess, no fuss.
Time: 2-3 minutes

SECRET TIP 3: OVENS
If you think ovens are just for baking, think again. Ovens represent at least 9 cubic feet of hidden storage space, which means they're a great place to shove dirty dishes, dirty clothes, or just about anything you want to get out of sight when company's coming.
Time: 2 minutes

SECRET TIP 4: CLOTHES DRYERS
Like Secret Tip 3, except bigger. CAUTION: Avoid hiding flammable objects here.
Time: 2.5 minutes

SECRET TIP 5: WASHING MACHINES & FREEZERS
Like Secret Tip 4, except even bigger.
Time: 3 minutes

SECRET TIP 6: DUST RUFFLES
No bed should be without one. Devotees of Martha Stewart believe dust ruffles exist to keep dust out from under a bed or to help coordinate the colorful look of a bedroom. The rest of us know a dust ruffle's highest and best use is to hide whatever you've managed to shove under the bed. (Refer to Secret Tips 3, 4, 5.)
Time: 4 minutes

SECRET TIP 7: DUSTING
The 30-Minutes-To-A-Clean-House method says: Never dust under what you can dust around.
Time: 3 minutes

SECRET TIP 8: DISHES
Don't use them. Use plastic or paper and you won't have to.
Time: 1 minute

SECRET TIP 9: VACUUMING
Stick to the middle of the room, which is the only place people look. Don't bother vacuuming under furniture. It takes way too long and no one looks there anyway.
Time: 5 minutes, entire house; 2 minutes, living room only

SECRET TIP 10: LIGHTING
The key here is low, low, and lower. It's not only romantic, but bad lighting can hide a multitude of dirt.
Time: 10 seconds

SECRET TIP 11: BED MAKING
Get an old-fashioned waterbed. No one can tell if those things are made up or not, saving you hundreds of seconds over the course of a lifetime.
Time: 0

SECRET TIP 12: SHOWERS, TOILETS, AND SINKS
Forget one and two. Concentrate on three.
Time: 1 minute

SECRET TIP 13:
If you already knew at least 10 of these tips, don't even think about inviting a Martha Stewart type to your home.

I like to listen to Glen Beck radio show from time to time. I think he is entertaining. The end of the world stuff I just take it with a grain of salt. I think when God decides to end the world it might be a time where every thing is going great in the world.

Dr Adrian Rogers

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Gary North, "It is true that democracy undermines freedom when voters believe they can live off of others' productivity, when they modify the commandment: "Thou shalt not steal, except by majority vote." The politics of plunder is no doubt destructive of both morality and the division of labor."

The GoP national Committee should state which side they are on and not be coy. Are the leading GoP figures creationists. Can we then ask them in the next presidential debate. Is the world 10,000 years old or billions of years old?

Now is the time, before they jell on a candidate to codify some of these significant issues. If they follow Texas, the answer is 10,000 years old.

I don't understand the uptick for creationism within politics. Faith is personal. It's not something to be legislated. We're not a theocracy.

My Italian grandmother would give all of us the same advise: "Just remember that you are just as good as anyone else...and if the truth be told you are just this much better". This much better was always the thumb and forfinger almost touching.

Many of the kids in the family think this is horrible. I probably was the only one that agreed with her. But you have to strive and her parents came from the old country where equality of outcome would never be possible because there was no opportunity. Here, at least, they could take advantage of education....and eventually make the world better for their children if not themselves.

By the fourth generation, all the kids went to college, 2 had worked on Phd's, one on 3 Master's, one a lawyer, and many more with master's degrees. This was what they taught us. To take advantage of education and the opportunities that it offered. The only equality of result they ever mentioned was that when we were dead, we would all be equal for all time. Until then, we were responsible for our own futures.

Socialism is also built around the idea of limited wealth, which is totally wrong. The United States is living historical proof that wealth is created, not taken. Look at all the industries that have sprung up in the past 100 years: automobiles, airplanes, music, movies, computers. And then look the industries that sprang up as mediums for advertising these products! Television, radio, and the internet. There is always going to be something new to be invented and there will always be young entrepreneurs who can sell the invention.

I like what you said, wealth is created, not TAKEN.

We need to share this idea with our friends, family, loved ones.

But isn't pushing faith-based ideology into the science class-room counter-productive for Republicans? There have to be other ways they can get elected. Sanity/common sense are good starters.

It is. This is the nightmare scenario predicted by many when Reagan welcomed the more extreme elements of the religious right with open arms. Just a bit of a tricky problem now, especially when the conventional wisdom says that the Republicans cannot win without the support of the religious right.

Using LGF as an example, take a look at how many lizards have called Charles attention to the ID issue a crusade against all religious lizards when it is nothing of the sort. Attempts by the GOP to pull back from the issues that are dear to the more extreme elements of the religious right are going to cause this on a grand scale. With a media that is hostile to all things GOP, and willing to amplify those well exaggerated claims, it's going to be a bloody mess whenever the GOP leadership finally decides that it has to be done and actually does it.

re: #382 opnion

Fairness is the issue, that's the predicate for wealth redistribution.
The idea that Socialism eradictes poverty is curious since there is rampant poverty in Socialist countries.
Our poor in this country are not tripping the life fantastic, but they have a standard of living that much of the world would envy.

And within this issue of fairness is the belief that wealth is finite. You can only make the poor richer by making the rich poorer. They never understand that wealth can be infinite. Every year more people are born and eventually work and add wealth to the economy...that doesn't mean there is less to go around. People can be so much more productive then in the past. So is the value of their work.

As long as everyone presents it as a zero-sum game, there is not going to be much logic in the whole argument of taking from one group and giving to another. In stead of raising everyone one up to the level of the rich person--and that takes work--they can only explain their failures as the result of someone else being successful...thus successful people stole that success from others.

Trying to convince someone that we could all rise up is almost impossible if they were raised as victims.

Al-Qaeda terror plot to bomb Easter shoppers

An al-Qaeda cell was days away from carrying out an "Easter spectacular" of co-ordinated suicide bomb attacks on shopping centres in Manchester, police believe.

All but one of the men arrested were Pakistani nationals who came to Britain on student visas. This suggested a possible new tactic by al-Qaeda, which had previously used British-based extremists who travelled to Pakistan for training.

The issue of student visas represents a potential security nightmare for the police and MI5. There are 330,000 foreign students in Britain and around 10,000 such visas are issued every year to Pakistanis alone.

Fuck student visas...let them build their on universities.

Here's one response I received:

I really have to question your will to fight against the hate that plagued UCI all these years, by your willingness to indulge and embolden those "groups" fight for the right to terrorize Europeans.

My guess that it is your opinion that Israel should also subject themselves to greater security risks - and that the Jewish Agency For Israel and non-profits like Nefesh B'Nefesh should be reaching out to more Muslim immigrants to make Aliyah - in order to avoid being called "brown shirts."

It is highly unlikely that Mitt Romney is a creationist. I only learned evolution at Brigham Young University - Romney's alma mater as well. But this could work against him among the creationists.

Duane Jeffery, BYU professor of integrative biology, said it is unfair to use intelligent design as an alternative to evolution because it is not a theory in the scientific sense.

“Intelligent design claims to be an alternate theory to evolution,” Jeffery said. “It cannot qualify as a theory.”

A scientific theory, Jeffery said, is a broad summation that pulls together massive amounts of data and gives direction for future testing. The problem with intelligent design is it cannot be tested for validation, he said.

“You can’t test anything with intelligent design,” he said. “There’s no way you can do science with it. Nobody has been able to.”

Jeffery said it is essential to continue to distinguish between hard science and speculation so students become competitive on the international level.

”There’s no question that science is the radical force in society,” he said. “It’s the only thing we have for conserving our natural resources; it’s the only thing that pushes progress. If we teach young students that science is inimical to their religious beliefs then we will fall behind, and we already have.”

Marta Adair, an integrative biology professor with 21 years experience teaching all grade levels, said proponents call intelligent design a theory when it is more appropriately termed a hunch.

She also said she supports the Utah Board of Education’s position on evolution as it stands, which states, “As a fundamental scientific concept, evolution is a necessary part of science classroom instruction.”

“I support it completely because it uses science as we currently understand it,” she said. “It uses the model for good science, that it is testable, and it’s not speculative.”

But you have to give the yeast the right conditions to grow, or you kill it off, ruin the dough, and thus get no bread at all. For anyone.

Excellent point. You read my mind as as I was re-reading the post.

I'm not sure why Charles found it very important to pursue anyone with a creationist or anti-jihadist idea as if they are any sort of threat to the USA. But, once you decide to chase creationist and anti-jihadists do you expect them to embrace you and compliment you?

Maybe Charles expects Western Civ to win by excluding anyone and everyone from civilized company that is less than 100% in agreement with LGF. Perhaps if he is obsessive in uncovering the 6 degrees of separation between some Christians and the owner of a pub that had LePen drink a pint back in 2007 it will drive a stake in the heart of jihadist.

But it has to be done. This isn't about one's personal/private faith now. It's about folks using religion (on both sides) for political gain - one side to criticize/fear monger and the other to fan the flames. The problem is that it's certain death for the Reps to keep pushing faith into political agendas like this. I really hate G-D being used politically.

SHOCKA--The Congressional Black Caucus that went to Cuba to kiss Castro's ass, did not ask to meet with any political dissidents (freedom fighters, as dems like to call them).

A bunch of congressional Republicans including Frank Wolf (R-VA) and Chris Smith (R-North Eastern state), chastised these democrat Castro ass kissers for their dereliction to duty.

Did they go at the behest of Pres Obama to lessen the impact when he attempts to normalize relations with Cuba?

Fairness is the issue, that's the predicate for wealth redistribution.
The idea that Socialism eradictes poverty is curious since there is rampant poverty in Socialist countries.
Our poor in this country are not tripping the life fantastic, but they have a standard of living that much of the world would envy.

I'll neglect for the moment issues of fairness in how socialists intend to achieve broad equality. I think socialism collapses economies because of something very fundamental. When everyone values everything identically (or very similarly), no one will have any incentive to trade anything with anyone.

To the extent that people are "equalized" in their monetary and material wealth, health, education, etc., they will tend to have similar valuations of things. The economic enrichments that trade brings, and personal preferences in people's specializations in education, skills and jobs --these things depend on people having inconsistent (different!) valuations of things.

Force the same worldview and values on everyone, and we die economically. And it won't matter if 99% of us are chanting Yes We Can.

So am I on mum's side. English would not have had their Empire without the Scots. ('course our fighting amongst ourselves helped them to conquer us)

True. I'm not sure that Scotland was ever much of a country in it's own right, to be honest. Bit of a shame. Produced a lot of fine minds though, like Adam Smith and David Hume, that contributed a lot of ideas that went into the founding principles of the USA. Whenever I get pissed off by the English I take vicarious solace in the notion that America, our 'partial brain-child' if you could call it that - kicked English butt good and proper.

Today, the leader of the Scottish Nationalists Alex Salmond is an outright moonbat unfortunately ('anti-war', pro Palestine, anti-Israel, pro Milosevic/Serbia etc) so I won't vote for independence.

The Democrats/Socialisst have long made the pie argument. If the rich take more slices, there are less slices for the poor. Their whole argument is based on a static pie and that argument is flawed. A better way to look at it is that the more ingredients you add the bigger the pie gets. the ingredients are private investment, hard work, individual effort. To feed socialsim, the governemnt mi=ust take away those iingredients that are made up of individual contributions and in doing so they shrink the pie so that everyone eventually has less. Socialism brings everyone down to the least common denominator and that is why it fails.

“The root difference between the Conservatives and the Liberals of today is that Conservatives take account of the whole man, while the Liberals tend to look only at the material side of man’s nature. The Conservative believes that man is, in part, an economic, an animal creature; but that he is also a spiritual creature with spiritual needs and spiritual desires. What is more, these needs and desires reflect the superior side of man’s nature, and thus take precedence over his economic wants. Conservatism therefore looks upon the enhancement of man’s spiritual nature as the primary concern of political philosophy. Liberals, on the other hand, - in the name of “concern for “human beings” — regard the satisfaction of economic wants as the dominant mission of society.“

Where are people with anti-jihadist being pursued? You mean Pamela Geller et al? She kinda wrote her own book there of bad ideas. That's open for interpretation of course. I think the gist there is that in all likelihood she will get compromised by neo-fascists that hold back on their true intent. Those are the people she would like to have breakfast with. And again that is her right, but she was loudly demanding other people do the same or be damned.

You lie, and despicably so. Charles' concern hs not been with creationists per se, but with the subset of creationists that have theocratically endeavored to shove their religious dogmas down the throats of other peoples' children in public high school science classes.

And it is right and proper to keep Nazis out of the antijihadist foxhole. You know that the Islamofascists outside your foxhole will be shooting at you; you don't need to worry about the eurofascists inside your foxhole shooting at you as well. Plus, the vast masses of truly decent people would never jump into your foxhole to help you, once they spotted neonazis in there, figuring, quite rightly, that you had either sold out your integrity for a mess of rhetorical pottage, or else were too obtuse to discern that these folks are trying to hitch a ride on the antijihadist bandwagon in order to vampirize its credibility.

Agreed. I see the difference between conservatives and liberals as one side understanding and harnessing human nature while the other ignores it.
Marx's Manifesto looks beautiful on paper, but only on paper. Once put into practice it is the scourge of humanity that history has demonstrated with a 100 million dead.
Conservatism/capitalism understands that man works hardest and best in his own interest. Liberals call that greed. I call that comoon sense. I will bust my ass for myself and my family. Less so for the 'collective'.
There are very few that will be productive with no gain for themselves. And socialism/communism has to keep re-learning that basic fact and that is when the gulags and the pistol shots to the back of the neck begin.
Bill "motherfucking asshole' ayers understood this when he wrote Prarie Fire and called for the elimination of 25 million of us. Mighty gracious of his fucking ass.

You on the right, with your hero-worship of people who once provided a valuable service and insightful commentary, such as Robert "Dances with Nazis" Spencer, and then decided to actively associate themselves with Neo-nazis and fascists whose desires are in line with those of the devil himself. You on the left, with your insane, irrational Jew-hatred, replete with blood libels and long-debunked conspiracy theories, and your relentless, hungry drive for the what can only be called National Socialism for America and the world. What the f**K is wrong with you people? You decry what you see as supposed "Nazilike" tactics when all that you work for, all that you strive for politically, is to replicate the REAL "failed polcies of the past", Socialism, Communism, and Fascism. The biggest, most f**king EPIC FAILS in world history are your ideal policy blueprints, and you think Charles is a Nazi for kicking your troll-ass, or your moby-ass, or your plain old idiot ass off his site.

Some perspective on 3:44 PM [ed. an anonymous poster; scroll down]: The lizard I recall who was posting two comments about "David Scum", and insisting that Charles was a fake conservative, was one RJ77.

Do click that link and see for yourself what Charles was dealing with at the time in question. I should also add the influx of Birch'ers and other conspiracy theorists in that thread.

I am not saying that 3:44 *is* RJ77. (I can't think of another lizard with so similar a recent posting history, but we'll let that slide.) RJ77 had posted such vileness, that if Anon 3:44 had posted along similar lines, Charles would have assumed they were two of a kind.

And: it seems we have nominally proIsrael kooks and predictably antiIsrael kooks united here. To the antiIsrael assholes, "begone from hence, I never knew you". (As Jack Chick might say.) I used to check in daily, but lately this is an occasional and brief drop in. It's just that the flame wars which have to do with "creationism vs. evolution" are, in essence, very boring. This subject may be Charles' personal pet peeve, but I bet it turns off many other people as well, for various reasons. There are other things too, perhaps subjective, so I won't detail those.

Also, Charles, you may object to being called names, but you do that to other bloggers you don't like.

You can be as self-righteous as you want. However, there is always the freedom to turn the dial, once someone decides that a particular program had jumped the shark..

This site is PRECISELY what it has been since I joined it - an anti-idiotarian site that gives no one's pet idiocy a free pass, regardless of whether most who embrace that idiocy are moonbats or wingnuts. That's the LGF I joined, that's WHY I joined it, and that's why I continue to stick around.

Ahhh..the ol' straw man ad-hominem bait and switch tactic.
Nicely done.

“You run your site like Kim Jong Il.”

Meaning really badly?

I mean, if someone is going to challenge the world with a missile launch, they should run some tests first to ensure the thing doesn't fizzle. Kinda embarassing.

And all the threats of raining down terror on their enemies? Does anyone remember the Army of Mars?

Since you're another angry creationist, I assume this is directed at me. Care to expand on your comment?

I happen to be a atheist conservative, but I appreciate the company and view of religious people.

What is distressing to me is when people engage in the cult of personality - that Bush could do no wrong, Clinton could do no right, etc.

I vote conservative or libertarian because I believe in individual rights, which have been sorely infringed upon in the last 50 years.

Another distressing thing is when a person votes for Bush or McCain ONLY on religious grounds - meaning they don't care if we become a socialst state, so long as we outlaw abortion, and not fund stem cell research.

You THOUGHT these people were on your side, that they understood the perils of giving the State too much power, but in fact they have no understanding. TEST your fellow "conservatives" and make sure they understand what "negative rights" are. If you, religious reader, don't understand the term negative rights, please look it up, so that you can be FISCAL as well as social conservative, and we can continue to make common cause. Otherwise, your doctrine will scare away people of good conscience but also of a different faith than yours.

Religious people - if God is the sheperd of your life, please don't vote The State to sheperd us to our doom. Grace is only achieved through individual choices, there is no salvation in being forcibly taxed to save the poor, or punished for the ethical choices we make that don't harm others.

As opposed to the "show up to a dead thread and pretend to be important by getting in a last dig?"

I have yet to see a belief set that does not have its share of mindless adherents and demagogues who seek to exploit them.

As a conservative I don't always agreee with what gets posted here. We took 8 years of bush bashing and BDS that I was done with it. People if they want to feel credible or listened to we cannot stoop down to the level of sites like the "HUFFINGTON POST". This site is great you have people from all walks of life and religious and political views. Like our parents have always said if you have nothing nice to say then don't say it at all.
