I never said it was about bad handwriting nor do I think it is all about the DRG reports. If the government has total control under a one payer system they will be calling the shots on who gets treated and what they will allow to be treated. I’m terrified by the thought of a bureaucrat who doesn’t know their ass crack from a whole in the ground making a decision on medical treatment.

Then we agree. If they can control all the data base info, then they will have first hand access to all the plans of treatment and the reimbursements. Most of this is currently handled by intermediaries who are contractors. There are also numerous independent companies that compile and database benchmarking information which is sold to healthcare organizations for JCHCO accreditations and other accreditation groups, and also to the government. If they can remove the middleman, they WILL be able to potentially prescribe health care treatment plans and control reimbursement. It will be recipe book medicine with fixed reimbursement. It will make Millers and Roberts Outcomes look like Bisquik….any every biscuit will be the same in uniformity and quality.
Well, so much for 10 years of medical school./

Obama is the one who stated this, the reason for computerizing MD orders was because nurses could not read their handwriting.
