They think they won’t be believed because often times they aren’t.
Yes, I know. And that’s what I was identifying above— rape is, unless physical evidence is obtained quickly or the guy talks about it with others— very difficult to prove, legally. You can’t implicitly believe everyone who says they were raped, legally. Any woman that I know I would believe immediately if they say they were raped, but I wouldn’t expect the legal system to simply take them at their word.
Now, there’s also women who are so disbelieved that their cases aren’t even investigated, like nearly any sex worker, and that’s a whole nother kettle of rotten fish.
