re: #483 Alouette

A “post Zionist” is a Jew or Israeli who is ambivalent about Israel’s continued right to exist as a Jewish state, who recommends alternatives such as a “one state solution” where Israel is swamped by an influx of millions of “returning Palestinians” who change the character of the state from a state of refuge for Jews, to an Islamic majority state where Jews are barely tolerated as a minority.

Thanks again. To be frank, and because of the much reported demographic changes in the Israeli and Palestinian population, I didn’t know there were still people, in Israel of all places, in favor of one state solution — I thought there was a semi-consensus about the 1967 borders (which was the default position, so to speak, of every summit since then).

Netanyahu does seem to speak against them, though:

Netanyahu: I’ll give such interpretation to the Accords that will make it possible for me to stop this galloping to the ‘67 [armistice] lines. How did we do it?

Narrator: The Oslo Accords stated at the time that Israel would gradually hand over territories to the Palestinians in three different pulses, unless the territories in question had settlements or military sites. This is where Netanyahu found a loophole.

Netanyahu: No one said what defined military sites. Defined military sites, I said, were security zones. As far as I’m concerned, the Jordan Valley is a defined military site.
