It looks like the ACLU opinion on surveillance cameras in general is that they are both ineffective for crime prevention, and so effective for potential abusers, that they should not be used.

there are hundreds of thousands of these cameras all over the country….they have been very effective in ABQ with regards to traffic violations…ha!…the whole issue is make believe busy work for the ACLU
