I haven’t seen any yet but I am not surprised that he’s doing well. He was a talent before the Colbert character and and like Biden knows what it’s like to lose family in a tragedy like that- for those who don’t know Stephen’s father and two of his older brothers died in a place crash when Stephen was a boy.
There was that obvious connection between Biden and Colbert…their sense of loss. But also the quiet strength and comfort derived from a shared sense of strong family and deep Catholic faith.
I remember Colbert’s very elderly mother passed away fairly recently. His on-air tribute to her was so moving.
