Not picking a fight. I like you and think your opinions - especially on education - are quite informative.
Smaller classrooms are good, but if the school loses funds they don’t let Mrs. B and Mr. X and Ms. M each have twenty kids in a classroom, they can Mrs. B, and let Mr. X and Ms. M each have thirty. Or more, these are optimistic numbers in the extreme.
Fewer kids means less money, same plant costs, same teacher salaries, etc.
This is assuming a very widespread voucher program of course, but that’s my basic problem with vouchers. They’re a feel-good stop-gap that please so-cons and may well help certain students, but they’re not going to fix public ed for us.
