This is false. My brother travels frequently with his laptop, and is frequently required to turn it on.

I’ve traveled internationally with all sorts of electronic goodies in a small satchel, and I have certainly been asked to turn the devices on at the TSA and European security checkpoint. I’ve also had my “toys” handled by security and sniffed for chemicals.

This statement (” Our officers don’t even turn computers on during inspection”) is only “true” if you consider that they ask YOU to turn them on.
