There are any number of millionaires who make about $120K per year, give or take, whose take-home pay is less than half that, and who wouldn’t dream of owning anything luxurious in the way either of home or car. They can’t afford it. Well, they could, but only by casting caution to the winds and forgoing other, more important things.

Nor can they afford $1000 sneakers. They can, unlike the strained sector of the middle class, afford an occasional exotic vacation, summer camp for the kids, college for the kids if they can cut it, and other sensible stuff.

They can, and do, contribute to charity. That’s one of those other “more important things”.

That’s your typical millionaire.

Best post I’ve seen in a long time. Spend less than what you make, work hard, you get your rewards. So many people I know go into huge debt getting and doing things they don’t need and can’t afford, then whine when it catches up to them. The entitlement mentality of the average American is really sickening, and it’s catching up with us. Oh well.
