What made them decide to invade Cambodia? I’ve always forgotten who of the two which one the PRC and USSR supported. It’s amazing the sheer destruction they caused in such a brief time.

The Khmer Rouge attacked Vietnam. Parts of Vietnam contained ethnic Khmers and Pol Pot decided that the Khmer Rouge should “take back” those areas. This “take back” idea was just as stupid as when Sarah Palin says that, maybe even more so since Vietnam had an immense material superiority and its troops had far more experience.
