re: #556 Desert Dog

That mentality is damaging to the kids. Once they get out of school, the newly minted “adults” soon realize that the world is not fair and that you only get out of it what you put into it. Pumping up kids with phony-balony imaginary confidence, rewarding ANY effort and basically defying the laws of human nature do more harm than any puffed up feel good nonsense these educators hope to give the kids with this.

Reward success and encourage the kids to be the best they can be….that is what they should be doing.

When I was 4-ish my parents discovered I was “gifted” and placed me in one of the ritzier private establishments where the celebs and other wealthier elements sent their kids. Real spoiled brats who liked to take out their frustrations on the “hoi polloi,” i.e. people like me.

I’ll just say that even at 21, having dropped out of there after a rich kid started a fight with me and probably bought the faculty, and seeing my two little bros lead “pop-punk” lives with more friends then I’ve probably ever had, that’s a very hard thing to do.
