The county sheriff, when he’s just out walking around, only carries a nightstick. Our village marshal only carries a blackjack. We have virtually no crime.

I do not lock my apartment door unless I am going away for several days at a time (the house door directly on the main road remains locked, but we rarely lock the back door as it is nearly inaccessible from the street)
