I think thats silly. Most all engineers I know and work with really dislike rigid hierarchy and top-down organizations. Maybe its different in the Mideast, but my take is that by and large engineers are most loyal to truth and logic, their boss is somewhere down in the pecking order.

This. I’m an engineer, and while a clear chain of command is nice, we prefer to let our brains rule the day and are largely independent types.
