Yeah, It’s Think Progress so not surprising they are misrepresenting the context. However, Ayaan has said a lot of over the top stuff in the past, she’s unfortunately not much of a role model for the rest of us. But she has her own thing going on. She’s often too bitter for my taste but I do admire her courage.

Wait a minute. Did you actually read that Think Progress article, or are you just making assumptions again? Because in fact, they didn’t misrepresent anything. They reported Hirsi Ali’s words in full, in their proper context.

And while it may not be correct to say she was “sympathizing” with Breivik, she was very definitely making excuses for the anti-Muslim crowd and holding them blameless for inspiring Breivik, by claiming that it was the LACK of discussion of anti-Muslim views that drove him to his crimes.

Not only did they post the entire quote in context, they included a video of her full statement.

Fourthly and finally, that one man who killed 77 people in Norway, because he fears that Europe will be overrun by Islam, may have cited the work of those who speak and write against political Islam in Europe and America – myself among them – but he does not say in his 1500 page manifesto that it was these people who inspired him to kill. He says very clearly that it was the advocates of silence. Because all outlets to express his views were censored, he says, he had no other choice but to use violence.

They didn’t “misrespresent” anything at all.
