So what category does speaking in tongues and similar come under?

We are nit picking and I take your point, but getting high is not really comparable to alcohol intoxication and I suspect it was known in early days or it (along with things like mushrooms) would have been specifically prohibited.

I’m not too sure what intoxicant was available or used where or when the letters were written. Or in the early N.T. era.
