One of the reasons these people remain on the fringe is because others are vigilant in making sure that’s where they stay. My guess is that if more Americans knew about these groups and how they’re pushing creationism/ID, they would take another look at what it is they think they’re supporting in ID. This has been one of the many things to come out of the ID debates on LGF. I didn’t know what a scam it was until Charles linked to the Wedge Strategy in a thread. After that- I was done thinking there’s nothing wrong with ID. The debate does make a difference. I know, because besides making a difference for me, I’ve seen it make a difference for other Lizards- some who have said so to Charles, and some who have said so to me. Without the debate- I would still be ignorant.

The reason why they are on the fringe like the communists and the various other fringe groups is because their ideas have been examined and found to be so wanting as to discredit them. Their arguments cannot endure scruitiny, so reasonable and informed people reject them…. it is always that way with ideologies.
Reasonable, logical people reject ideas that give them no advantage. In a modern, sophisticated world adhering to the ID ideology will not give any advantage to most people (a small minority will find it advantageous to adhere to it to sell books, or use it to in districts where many people are not well informed).
I have no worries about ID ever being accepted as mainstream science… that debate is over like any claims to sanity that Kim Jung Ill had prior to 1990.
