Why? You said it yourself, scammers are faking messages from anyone and everyone; it’s not going to matter if you have a PayPal account or Norton subscription or anything else. No need to inconvenience yourself for something scumbags are going to send thousands/millions of others in order to get some bites.

What matters is never, ever click links in messages like these, even if they are purportedly from someone you do business with; always manually log in to those services you use using known-good links to double-check suspected phishtales.

I agree. However, by removing sources of payment from PayPal, I’m avoiding potential fraud. This way, I won’t ever find myself arguing with any fraudulent charges. It just makes my life easier.
