They are not “opposing thoughts”.Socialism and fascism have much in common.

Fascism is and has always been a phenomenon of the right.
Authoritarianism exists on both sides of the political spectrum; on the right it’s fascism, on the left totalitarianism.

Conflating fascism with socialism in any way is Jonah Goldberg territory, and best avoided.
