Well, back in the 50’s my mother worked as a solderer on military aircraft. Those kind of jobs were available, but usually only in the big cities.

I went to a large university, which had more men than women as students, and I’d say about half the women I met there were going for their Mrs. degree. This was in the late 70’s.
