I don’t know the genealogy of the base. IIRC, it was NOTS when she first moved there. Maybe that was the airfield/range part of it, not the design center.

I was up there several times in the mid-60’s, including once when my squadron went for 2 weeks of bombing practice.

It was NOTS in the beginning, NAWS in the eighties, NWC recently, and at least one other acronym somewhere along there. It is a fascinating place, BTW. Lots of interesting research goes on there.
