Southwest Airlines is 87% unionized.

Southwest Airlines’ Seven Secrets for Success

Most US Carriers are bloated dinosaurs a la GM. They have piles of debt and obligations, an unhappy worker force, they are spread thin trying to be “global” and have no vision for the future. Virtually every other international carrier is heavily subsidized and even worse. If air carriers want to survive lean times, they better start emulating the formula Southwest has, or they are going to disappear…..PanAm? Eastern? Northwest is being eaten up by Delta (another sick puppy). The future does not bode well for the airline industry. They are killing off their only profitable divisions rapidly as well - freight and cargo.
